What Is n8n?

n8n is a visual workflow automation tool that connects applications and services with drag-and-drop nodes. Creating a CRM record when a form is submitted, pushing new orders to your accounting software, or summarizing incoming email with AI and posting it to Slack can all be built without code. When needed, you can add custom steps in JavaScript or Python.

n8n can be installed on your own server. Your workflows, credentials and execution history then live on your server rather than in a third-party cloud.

Why Self-Host n8n?

The cloud edition limits monthly executions by plan. A self-hosted n8n has no such quota; your server’s resources are the only limit. Webhooks listen on a fixed address 24/7, and scheduled jobs keep running when your computer is off.

Because the server is in Turkey, customer and order data can be processed without leaving the country, which matters for businesses assessing their obligations under Turkey’s data protection law (KVKK). With root access you can update n8n, add a database such as PostgreSQL and connect your own domain with SSL.

Licensing and Choosing Resources

The self-hosted Community Edition of n8n is distributed under the Sustainable Use License. It lets you use n8n free of charge for your own company’s internal processes. Selling n8n as a service to others or embedding it in a paid product requires a separate license agreement with n8n.

2 vCPU and 2 GB RAM are enough for a few simple workflows. For many frequently running workflows, AI steps or team use, we recommend 4 GB RAM or more and PostgreSQL instead of the default SQLite.
